This Roundtable will focus on environmental and energy policies and priorities of the nation’s military leaders, as well as federal agencies and military bases in North Carolina. The session will include keynote remarks by senior officials of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) and Naval Facilities Engineering Command (NAVFAC), who will review the policies and priorities of their commands concerning environmental compliance, cleanup, pollution prevention and energy resilience for Army, Navy, Marine Corps and Air Force installations. Following these keynote remarks, officials from military bases and EPA and industry partners will discuss and seek input on current and anticipated environmental challenges, including solid waste cleanup associated with infrastructure modernization and construction at bases in North Carolina. These officials will also discuss energy resilience goals and operations, including reducing energy use through energy efficiency efforts, improving the ability to recover from energy disruptions and improving the cybersecurity of control systems.
